5TRACKS: Mudde

28-06-2012 -

We asked all the DJs that are playing at Amsterdam Bass Festival to answer 5 questions about tunes that they like to play or like to listen to. Today’s selector, one of the guys behind one of Amsterdams busiest party-collectives Boston Strip: Mudde.

I like to open my sets with this tune:
Tenor Saw - Come Me Just A Come (Sly & Robbie Club Mix)

It's always nice to start a set with reggae tune to show respect to the roots of bass music. Loefah once opened his Sonic Warfare set with Diseases by Michigan & Smiley, that was a vibe..

This tune always works on the dancefloor:
Girl Unit - IRL

This still is such a banger. All time Girl Unit favorite. People always start clapping along with the claps when the break comes in.

I wish I made this tune:
Dennis Ferrer - P 2 Da J

I've always been jealous of Dennis Ferrer's sound, especially for this tune. Deep and tight low end and it sounds in your face still.

I play this tune when I’m relaxing at home:
Tony Allen - Jealousy

African jazz soothes me in a way no other music does. It's uplifting, but it doesn't distract you that much while working.

This tune is my guilty pleasure:
Yes - Owner Of A Lonely Heart

The production is so good of this classic. Love to hear this on a very loud volume, preferably a big soundsystem setup.

Mudde will be playing at Amsterdam Bass Festival on Thursday 14 Juli on Cable.

Also check out this mixtape he did for the festival, to be featured in the Vice Festival Guide.
